She/Her - Why did you create this work?
‘Every Apple Clears a Path’ is a charitable initiative created by Ukrainian farmer Serhil Zubar, where proceeds from each apple sold go towards demining contaminated areas in Ukraine. The illustration, designed for an apple box, was created as part of a 28-day branding illustration challenge organised by Inkygoodness in May 2024 and won the 1st prize. The prize included the artwork being commissioned for the campaign and a further development of the brief. - How were your illustrations used?
The task set by the art director Julia Donchuk was to create a single vector illustration with a specific set of characters (a Ukrainian family of four) wearing traditional Ukrainian outfits in a modern take. Each character needed to be placed on a separate layer, so the chosen artwork could be later rearranged and applied to different box formats. - What materials and techniques did you use?
Adobe Illustrator was the main tool I used to create the final outcome. To develop the idea I created many pencil sketches and thumbnails, which I scanned and redrew digitally in iPad Procreate. Using digital elements in Procreate I put together the composition, which I vectorised in Illustrator. - Was this project commissioned?
