- Why did you create this work?
I was tasked to create a visually interesting mural for Tannery Studios, a creative hub. The mural will be painted on a telephone booth/thinking pod used by the staff at the studios and has to be designed to wrap around the pod's box shape. Using whimsical monkeys as the central motif, my mural draws on the humour and wonder these playful creatures evoke. It embraces creativity and joy to brighten up the workday of the staff. - How were your illustrations used?
The illustrations were applied on a telephone booth/thinking pod in Tannery Studios' corridor. The monkeys are illustrated with lively and organic brushstrokes which enhances their playful interaction with the 3D shape of the pod. In order to highlight the shape that the mural was painted on, I ensured continuity in the actions of the monkeys at the corners of the box's shape. - What materials and techniques did you use?
The mural was painted with acrylic paints. The initial design was painted with Chinese ink and coloured digitally in Photoshop. - Was this project commissioned?
