She/Her - Why did you create this work?
'Times of Growth' is designed for the Dutch Central Bank in Amsterdam. It's a public lightwork with illustrations about growth. It invites the viewer to think about growth and its boundaries. The illustrations transformed 6 times, making the artwork grow itself. We start in the past with themes like evolution and discoveries, growing towards a future with problems like climate change. In the last chapter the artwork reveals a futuristic earth with creative solutions for todays problems. - How were your illustrations used?
The illustrations were placed in a metal framework designed by me and my team. You could find the artwork in the centre of Amsterdam, in a park in front of the Dutch Central Bank. For visitors of the park and residents nearby it’s an art installation that brightens the park at night. It invites people to have a thought about growth during their walk or jamming session in front of the illustrations - What materials and techniques did you use?
At the beginning of this dream project I started with creating tons of research and sketches. I collected the best ideas to build a world where everything is influenced through connection with each other. The realization was done in Photoshop, with 500 layers of artwork and 6 times of pure joy. - Was this project commissioned?
