She/Her - Why did you create this work?
These illustrations are from a picture book published by Five Quills, written by author Annemarie Anang and illustrated by Natelle Quek, titled Dance Just Like So! - How were your illustrations used?
The illustrations were created for the picture book Dance Just Like So! and follows the story of Kwesi, his Grandma (a dance champion), and a diverse cast of neighbours who come to Grandma’s house every week for dance lesson. - What materials and techniques did you use?
Illustrations are created digitally using Procreate App on Ipad Pro, drawn and rendered by the illustrator from starting sketch stages all the way through final colour artwork stages. Colour illustrations are then edited on Photoshop CC prior to sending off for book printing. - Was this project commissioned?

Natelle is a Malaysian-born children’s book illustrator who grew up in New Zealand, and now calls the UK home. In a previous life, Natelle worked as a biochemistry technician, but finally gave up her lab coat in 2018 to pursue art and illustration. She now works with a growing list of clients and has illustrated several picture books and young fiction books.Natelle loves to use bold colours and cinematic perspectives to draw readers into her worlds.
