  • Why did you create this work?
I created this book cover for a personal compendium of poems about ‪the delicate tapestry of memory, identity and incompletion. Omitting the title on the cover was intended to make the cover not just a visual object but a poetic one—fragmented, intimate, and open to interpretation—much like the nature of the poems within.
  • How were your illustrations used?
This cover illustration was created for a book I’m currently writing. While the manuscript is still in progress, the cover is being used to promote the project and as part of my visual portfolio.
  • What materials and techniques did you use?
    I used procreate.
  • Was this project commissioned?
    Un-commissioned

Nandita is an illustrator and anthropologist, born in Delhi, influenced by Japan, and based in London. She embraces a multi-local identity, shaped by experience over borders. She has spent her adult years in many places doing different things as a farmer, librarian, designer, architect, waiter, researcher, and mason—and still can’t believe she gets paid to talk to strangers.
