she/they - Why did you create this work?
‘Floaters’ is a personal and fantastical interpretation of living with posterior vitreous detachment, known as floaters in the eyes. The subject matter serves as a self-reflecting discussion over the transient balance when conventional pain nurtures your creativity, as well as the dilemma of whether to embrace your difference or to assimilate. - How were your illustrations used?
It was my graduation film, and it was screened in film festivals and exhibitions around the world, such as the Palm Springs ShortFest, Pictoplasma, and the Rhode Island International Film Festival, to name a few. It won a gold medal at the Society of Illustrators' annual exhibition, Illustrators 67, in 2025. - What materials and techniques did you use?
I used 2D digital animation— hand-drawn frame-by-frame in TVPaint Animation and rendered special effects in Adobe After Effects. - Was this project commissioned?
