She - Why did you create this work?
This project began at the University of the Arts London, exploring illustration as a response to domestic violence. I created a pseudo-documentary and an illustration book revealing its impact. Using interviews from an official Chinese domestic violence documentary, I animated and projected drawings in my rented home. The book shows a woman hesitating to leave a howling-wind valley. - How were your illustrations used?
Animation: I used Procreate to make it frame by frame. And I took pictures of my bed sheets, home furnishings, etc. as the background of the animation.
Illustration story: I used brushes and ink to draw ancient Chinese women to present a sense of place in this Chinese domestic violence project. They were displayed in showcases and exhibitions.
