She/her - Why did you create this work?
Inspired by a quote from Camus’s essay “The Myth of Sisyphus”, this animation is a personal work exploring an absurdity in the everyday. With no characters, the ambiguous narrative allows for universal familiarity and an existential comfort in a shared questioning of a mechanical life. By hand drawing 100 frames, a thematic repetition is engrained in the video. - How were your illustrations used?
This animation was created as part of a university module in November and forms an exploratory piece as well as a short music video. Set to the instrumental opening of Radiohead’s “All I Need”, the animation acts as a short form promotional music video, with the sizing specific for use on social media. - What materials and techniques did you use?
The frames for the animation were hand drawn with graphite and charcoal onto cartridge paper toned with watercolour. These frames were scanned, then animated using Procreate dreams. - Was this project commissioned?
