  • Why did you create this work?
The goal of this project was to transform data into a visually engaging format without compromising its meaning. To achieve this, we leveraged the article’s illustrative style to create an illustrated data visualization. Developed in collaboration with illustrator Lina Jaradat, this project seamlessly integrates data visualization within an illustration canvas, using artistic elements to communicate quantitative information in a compelling and intuitive way.
  • How were your illustrations used?
Data visualization project created for London-based Al Majalla magazine for the month of October 2024. Data Visualization and creative design: Diana Estefanía Rubio, Illustration Style: Lina Jaradat. Creative director: Sara Loane
  • What materials and techniques did you use?
I could describe this data visualization as handcrafted, since the data was conceptualized and processed in Excel, and then the sketch was made with the real information in the graphics in Adobe Illustrator in order to apply Lina's illustrative technique. This is a fusion pixel with vector.
