  • Why did you create this work?
I created “Starving Artist” to challenge the stereotype of the artist’s life as one of poverty and struggle. The flies, crumbs, and dirty palette knife evoke discomfort, yet the flickering candlelight offers warmth—a symbol of the chaotic, fleeting beauty of creativity in a world dominated by logic and science. It reflects both the grime and the grace of the artistic mind.
  • How were your illustrations used?
This illustration was used as a submission in my art portfolio. It won a Gold Key in the Drawing & Illustration category in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards 2022.
