  • Why did you create this work?
    Observing the design of bus stops and station signs in different cities and countries is one of my favourite hobbies when travelling. I enjoy sketching during my journeys, capturing various scenes of people waiting for transportation. Most of the characters in these illustrations are inspired by the people in my sketchbooks.
  • How were your illustrations used?
    These illustrations are from a wordless picture book I created which tells a story about waiting for the bus through sequential illustrations – what do people like to do while waiting for the bus? Why isn't the bus coming? Readers can understand each character's story while waiting for the bus by looking at the sequential images. Finally, the bus is here, but ……

    Xinyue Zhang, an illustrator from China, is pursuing an MA in Children’s Book Illustration at Cambridge School of Art, where she explores new forms of expression and her personal voice. She enjoys using vibrant colors and playful shapes to craft imaginative, storytelling-rich illustrations. Sketching while traveling is her hobby.
