He/Him - Why did you create this work?
These works are GIF images that I created inspired by the streets of my hometown, Shanghai. I often enjoy sketching on the streets, capturing a momentary scene, but a static image only represents a single moment. However GIFs are like time capsules, allowing me to store the moments that touch me on the city streets. - How were your illustrations used?
My works are primarily for my personal research and are published on social media. I want to combine animation with traditional sketch to capture a precious daily city moment. - What materials and techniques did you use?
I use watercolors, colored pencils, crayons, and ink to create scenes, while the animation of characters is done using digital tools, such as Procreate Dreams. - Was this project commissioned?

Hong Xiao is a professional illustrator, animator, and Gif maker based in Shanghai. He is working as a designer by day, and making his own short films and illustration books in the spare time. His favorite topic is daily city life. Because of living in a metropolis full of contrast,old and new, busy and casual, he always brought a sketchbook and wandering on the street to capture the moments and transfer them into interesting form. - Where are you currently based?
