She/Her - Why did you create this work?
With this book, I wanted to portray the diversity of the feminine condition, also honoring the legacy of female artists and their works, through the short fictional stories of 25 women. The stories take place in the early 1970's, in Portugal, while the country was still under a dictatorship. Through these stories, and their intertwined narrative layers, I also I aimed to prompt a reflection about the evolution of women’s rights, and women’s roles in society, in the past 50 years. - How were your illustrations used?
