Why did you choose to enter this work?
It is the first project that I illustrate with a digital technique. The result surprised me and as after few days it continued to please me, I decided to present it
What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
In this story, colour is just another character. Conveying this concept on the cover was quite a challenge. I also like the way the different elements are distributed on the page.
What excites you most about being shortlisted?
I am moved by the memory of visiting the WIA2017 exhibition in London a few years ago. I liked it and "dream" that one day I would like to be part of it.
Where do you usually work?
Now I have just moved to a house in the country and have set up a studio. Working close to nature it is a very interesting experience.
How long did it take to complete your project?
I don't remember how much time I spent on the cover, but I do remember that the work went quite smoothly and that in a few days the cover was finished.
What is your dream commission?
I wish someone would pay me to illustrate the silly things that are constantly going through my head. there are many and I have been writing them down for some time.
What’s your favourite thing to draw?
My work is closely related to literature and I like to receive texts and assignments that leave me room to create my own world.
What is your best tip for other illustrators?
A piece of advice I was given and which I now apply to myself. Life itself, especially childhood memories, are an inexhaustible and genuine source of inspiration.
What are your plans for the future?
Continue to illustrate stories that excite me and to be encouraged again to create more personal projects.
