
Why did you choose to enter this work?
I don’t see this is a competition, but a chance to showing goodwill and putting a smile on people’s face. Which means that Guangcai is all about the hybrid of different cultures.
What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
My style can be smoothly mixed with Guangcai art, in the same time it is contemporary and down to earth.
What excites you most about being shortlisted?
As my work is not a typical illustration work, I am very excited about showing that illustration really doesn't have limits, and how one can value art, history, story and friendship.
Where do you usually work?
Hong Kong is a very small place, we living in tiny home, I usually draw at the dining table when it is empty and think of ideas and drafts in coffee shops.
How long did it take to complete your project?
Around a month.
What is your dream commission?
To make history and art in a contemporary way that makes history and art live on in our everyday life.
What’s your favourite thing to draw?
Story telling with historical and literature themes.
What is your best tip for other illustrators?
Read a lot of different kind of books.
What are your plans for the future?
Using Guangcai and illustration as an art form to contribute history stories, and make it friendly to people.
