  • Why did you create this work?
It is inspired by "flâneur" and Franz Kafka. Drawing from observations of real windows on streets, it explores themes of loneliness and the sense of belonging in the modern city. In today’s tough economy, with high living costs and house prices, owning a home feels like an unachievable dream. Windows also act as a bridge between the inside and outside worlds, showing other people’s lives.
  • How were your illustrations used?
This is a self-initiated project made during my study at Kingston University.
  • What materials and techniques did you use?
The hand-made concertina book is finished in Book Art Workshop. The images in the book are original soft-ground etching prints. The front and back covers are made of black book cloth. The back cover of the book uses hand-made letterpress printing to show the writings of Franz Kafka.
