- Biography
Nina Vandeweghe lives and works in Brussels, Belgium. She graduated in 2012 from The School Of Arts, KASK, Ghent, and she has made illustrations for the Belgian newspaper ‘De Morgen’, and various other Belgian and international magazines. Nina has a rudimentary style with influences of l’Art Brut. Alongside commissioned work she also paints and creates her own work. Within this work she uses fragments of text, slivers of paper, scribbles etc. She uses these elements to build up her world with melancholic anti-hero characters. Her work contains dark humour and she often plays with coincidence. An accidental stain of paint or a found piece of paper can often be the starting point for a work. - Where did you hear about the competition?
