He/Him - Why did you create this work?
This new and limited edition of Solaris is the first direct Polish to English translation of the work. From the start I knew I wanted to create both a colour and b&w illustration for each chapter. I was given free reign for the illustrations. Using colour and light to heighten or lower anxiety I set out to immerse the reader into Kelvin's world and to tell the story through the illustrations. - How were your illustrations used?
There are three editions of the book, Collectors, Deluxe and Lettered, the 14 colour illustrations run through each of the editions and apear aligned with the paragraph of the chapter that inspired the illustration, whilst the Line drawing chapter headers are inspired more by the overall feeling of their chapter. - What materials and techniques did you use?
