She/Her - Why did you create this work?
‘Collect Them All’ is a fictional craft brewery, with a focus on nostalgia. It hopes to connect people through the power of positive memories, utilising illustration as the vehicle. The sense of connection that can be achieved through shared experience or retelling of stories, combined with the communal settings in which craft beer is often consumed, is a cornerstone of my brand's narrative. - How were your illustrations used?
I wanted to add an element of actual collecting within my beer line-up, so utilised the mascots as an option for collectibility; by designing the artwork to have kiss-cut stickers that would peel away from the label for those interested to engage in the collectible aspect of my design, whilst not adding additional bulk or waste. ‘Collect them all’ literally with stickers. Like the good old days! - What materials and techniques did you use?
My project was primarily created using Procreate, using only one or two brushes per design, and colour palettes taken from nineties and noughties toys. I wanted to emulate the same simplistic joy of creating art as a child, without worrying too much about perfect edges or realistic proportions. - Was this project commissioned?
