She/Her - Why did you create this work?
This project was commissioned by New Buds Publishing House (through The Bright Agency). This was a project to illustrate a children`s chapter book by Zhang Wei. The story focussed on the author`s family relationships and emotional connections with different animals throughout his life, including his memories as a boy growing up with his family in China. - How were your illustrations used?
They were published in the chapter book `Love Flows Endlessly` by Zhang Wei, published by New Buds Publishing House. - What materials and techniques did you use?
Predominantly digital using procreate with some handmade textures. I find working digitally gives me more freedom. I use procreate in an organic way, e.g. banning myself from the undo button to leave in those little wonky `mistakes` and quirks that make the work feel hand drawn. I often incorporate digital and handmade patterns and abstract textures into my pictures. - Was this project commissioned?

Lemady is a British/Swiss Illustrator. She takes a mixed-media approach, predominantly digital but often incorporating hand-made textures from watercolour, ink and pastels. Her artwork is distinctive for its loose, lively line, emotion, intimacy and atmosphere. Lemady is now represented by Bright and has just completed her first professional book commission. She also works as a teacher. - Where are you currently based?
