She/Her - Why did you create this work?
This illustration accompanies an article reviewing the book “Living on Earth: Forests, Corals, Consciousness, and the Making of the World.” By Peter Godfrey Smith. In the book, the philosopher Peter Godfrey-Smith describes a new way of understanding how living beings have shaped our planet. The illustration portrays the evolution of creatures with the flow of time in a dynamic composition filled with bold textures.

Joanna Lisowiec is an illustrator, designer and printmaker originally from Poland who now lives in the UK. She studied illustration at Edinburgh College of Art where she learned print-making and fell in love with the bold, rustic qualities of linocut print. Joanna has developed digital illustration techniques that mimic linocut and engraving, allowing for a traditional aesthetic within a contemporary work flow. - Where are you currently based?
