She/Her - Why did you create this work?
I was commissioned by The Folio Society to illustrate Children of Dune, the third installment in the Dune series by Frank Herbert. The story follows the Atreides twins in the continued saga of the desert planet Arrakis. I focused on character-driven compositions to highlight key plot moments, and I was especially drawn to surreal scenes with underlying psychological aspects. - How were your illustrations used?
The scope included a cover in black ink with copper foil, a single-ink slipcase, 8 color interiors, and 10 monochrome chapter headings. - What materials and techniques did you use?
The illustrations are oil on panel with digital revisions. - Was this project commissioned?
