She/Her - Why did you create this work?
The project explores the irony within the structural problems of obesity and the pharmaceutical industry. It addresses medical stigma around obesity, Ozempic dependency, and social pressure. My illustrations highlight how new medications may offer short-term solutions, but obesity is a chronic condition that requires long-term lifestyle changes, while we live in a society that sells the opposite. - How were your illustrations used?
The purpose was academic. While the article exists, this drawing was not commissioned by El País. Although intended for print, the project was presented using mockups. The final work included one cover, three full pages, one ¼ page, and one ½ page of illustrations. - What materials and techniques did you use?
I first sketched a library of different elements in my sketchbook using markers and pencils. Then, I scanned them and created the final version on the iPad. - Was this project commissioned?
