she/her/hers - Why did you create this work?
Something so lovely is a vulnerable exploration of my busy mind. A collection of my personal diary entries, brief descriptions and worries put together in the form of poetry and told from the point of view of my (also 22-year-old childhood teddy bear) Blue Bat (played by Jack Etheridge), shown through a warm, comforting visual language. A comfortably uncomfortable experience. - How were your illustrations used?
Considering my film is about the discovery of, and struggle to articulate, a recent ADHD diagnosis, it was important for me to lean heavily on the visual language carrying the narrative. I learnt to use illustration as not only an emotional but practical tool to talk about how I was feeling when I often couldn't put it into words. My illustrations from my diary entries are what drove this project. - What materials and techniques did you use?
I learnt how to use Dragonframe, and how to edit and light from YouTube videos and filmed all of the footage in a very make-shift studio in my bedroom. I handmade all the puppets, sets and rigs. Everything is completely handmade. Everything was self taught, while I studied my MA in Communications. - Was this project commissioned?

@flossywaters - Biography
I am a storyteller across various mediums. A lot of my work involves combining a childlike visual language with mature narratives and exploring that contradiction. After an ADHD diagnosis, I experienced a time when my mind was overwhelmed with thoughts I couldn’t untangle. Something my therapist suggested, "What if you drew how you were feeling instead of saying it?" This concept stuck with me and became the core of my work, as expressing emotions visually became easier than speaking them.
