He/Him - Why did you create this work?
For the premiere of Prime’s adaptation of Juan Gómez-Jurado’s Red Queen Novels, I was commissioned to create an artwork, inspired by its first season, to be used as a mural in the renovation of an abandoned wall in central Madrid. Granted full creative freedom within the wall’s dimensions, I painted a traditional Madrid-style house filled with series characters and easter eggs for fans to find. - How were your illustrations used?
Once the illustration was finished, the client brought in Spanish mural artist Erik Air and his team to prepare, treat and paint the final design on a wall about 16 meters high and 10 meters wide, attached to a residential building in Plaza de Santiago, one of the busiest areas in Madrid, near the Royal Palace. The project was also promoted in the press and on the client’s social media. - What materials and techniques did you use?
I worked digitally using Procreate. Planning, measuring, and scaling the draft to fit the wall and blend it with neighbouring buildings was the most challenging part. To transfer the illustration, mural artist Erik Air used spray paint, following the color palette codes I provided. - Was this project commissioned?
