She/Her - Why did you create this work?
The publisher, Sydney Fish Market, wanted lively and bright illustrations of lesser-known fish species to feature on their comprehensive cookbook cover and alongside the recipes within. I was commissioned to illustrate the cover and chapter openers, consulting several encyclopaedic references of the particular species as well as recipes like paella and poke bowls in a painterly textural style. - How were your illustrations used?
Hardback book cover case (front, back and spine) and throughout the book internals including endpapers and 8 chapter opener double page spreads. - What materials and techniques did you use?
Hand-drawn digitally using Procreate. - Was this project commissioned?
