Why did you choose to enter this work?
Having created the text and illustration myself, this is one of my most personal books, and the one I am most satisfied with so far.
What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
I think the composition of the images and the use of the pencil and pastel technique to create melancholic and evocative atmospheres are the aspects that I would highlight.
What excites you most about being shortlisted?
The truth is that it is an honor to be selected among so many talented artists, and it is also a very good place for my work to be seen by more people.
Where do you usually work?
I usually go to my studio to work, especially if I need to focus or work in large formats, although sometimes I prefer to work from home.
How long did it take to complete your project?
This is a personal project that I have been working on for almost five years.
What is your dream commission?
My dream commission would be more like a scholarship, to be able to work for several months without worrying about anything and to see where the process takes us.
What’s your favourite thing to draw?
To create emotion and some kind of mistery.
What is your best tip for other illustrators?
You should never loose the joy of drawing for yourself.
What are your plans for the future?
Now I am preparing some paintings for an Exhibition in Amsterdam. I would also like to try comics or sculpture.
