He/Him - Why did you create this work?
This work is part of my book, 13 Dark Poems Inside the Head of Edgar Allan Poe, a personal project inspired by Poe’s haunting literary legacy. Each illustration reimagines one of his poems, exploring his psyche through symbolic visuals. By combining traditional charcoal techniques with digital enhancements, I aimed to capture the dark, emotional essence of his work. This project reflects my passion for blending classic literature with evocative visual storytelling. - How were your illustrations used?
My illustrations are part of the book 13 Dark Poems Inside the Head of Edgar Allan Poe. They were created to accompany each poem, visually interpreting the themes and emotions within Poe’s works. Additionally, selected illustrations were used in promotional materials for the book’s crowdfunding campaign, including social media posts and animated visuals. - What materials and techniques did you use?
I used traditional charcoal drawing to create the base illustrations, which were then enhanced and refined using digital tools in Procreate. This combination allowed me to capture a raw, textured quality while adding depth and detail to align with the themes of Edgar Allan Poe's work. - Was this project commissioned?
