She/Her - Why did you create this work?
I created this work to celebrate the diverse identities, colors, and perspectives that shape our world. By stepping outside ourselves and viewing life from a third-person perspective, we gain a fresh appreciation for our own uniqueness. This piece invites reflection, encouraging us to embrace difference and find the extraordinary in the everyday. - How were your illustrations used?
This illustration was used as a submission in my art portfolio. It won a Silver Key in the Expanded Projects category in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards 2023. - What materials and techniques did you use?

Claire Kexin Hua, born in Tianjin, China, immigrated to Markham, Canada as a child. She attended Holy Trinity High School and now studies Illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design, graduating in 2027. Her work explores drawing as both historical record and revolutionary act, blending media, literature, sustainability, and interdisciplinary ideas. - Where are you currently based?
