  • Why did you create this work?
    The short film's inspiration comes mainly from the director's experience living in the UK as an Asian female. It tends to capture the difficulty and struggle of a female immigrant building a new life in the UK, away from her safe space where her family, lover and friends are.
  • How were your illustrations used?
    The animation has been screened in over 50 film festivals all over the world in order to reach as many target audiences as possible.
  • What materials and techniques did you use?
    2D animation, stop motion, 3D printing, laser cut, pottery and ceramics.

  • Biography
    Chu-Chieh Lee is a Taiwanese animation director and illustrator based in London, UK. She finished her master's degree in Narrative Animation at the Royal College of Art. Her animation career started by working at a motion graphics studio in Taiwan as a designer, animator and art director. Relocating and pursuing her career in London in 2018, she has worked for clients such as Pfizer, LinkedIn, Google, Nestlé, and BBC.
