  • Why did you create this work?
    I was invited by Blablabla Media to direct a short animated adaptation of my picture book The Girl with the Occupied Eyes. It's the story of how a little girl is so hypnotized by a screen that she fails to notice the world around her.
  • How were your illustrations used?
    My illustrations were used as graphic bible, layouts, character design and backgrounds. I also animated part of the movie and did the compositing with watercolour effects and post-production.

    Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects, Rebelle 6, Toon Boom Studio, video footage

  • Biography
    André Carrilho has worked as a graphic artist for over 30 years, collaborating with a wide list of publications including The New York Times, The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, New York Mag, Los Angeles mag, Wall Street Journal and The New Statesman. He has received more than 100 honours and awards. He's also a director, animator and picture book author.
